Job Interview Types

There are a variety of types of interviews that employers may
conduct, including behavioral interviews, group interviews, phone and
video interviews, second interviews, and even interviews held during a
meal. Review the different types of interviews, along with tips on how
to interview effectively, regardless of the situation you're in.

1. Behavioral based interviewing is interviewing based on discovering
how the interviewee acted in specific employment-related situations.
The logic is that how you behaved in the past will predict how you
will behave in the future i.e. past performance predicts future
performance.

2. Exit Interview
An exit interview is a meeting between an employee who has
resigned or been terminated and the company's Human Resources
department. The reason companies conduct exit interviews is to get
feedback about the job the employee held, the work environment, and
the organization.

3.Lunch and Dinner Interviews
Interviews are often stressful - even for job seekers who have
interviewed many times. Interviewing can be even more stressful when
you are expected to eat and talk at the same time. One of the reasons
employers take job candidates out to lunch or dinner is to evaluate
their social skills and to see if they can handle themselves
gracefully under pressure.

4.Group Interview
There are two types of group interviews. The first is when each
job applicant is interviewed by multiple interviewers. The group (or
panel) of interviewers typically includes a Human Resources
representative, the manager, and possibly co-workers from the
department where the applicant would be working, if hired.

The other type of group interview is when a group of applicants
for the same position are interviewed together, by the hiring manager.
In this scenario, you and other candidates would be interviewed
together, in group.

5.Interviewing in a Public Place
Employers sometimes schedule job interviews in a public place,
like a coffee shop or restauarant. Here are tips on how to interview
in public.

6.Second Interview Tips
You've done it! You passed the first interview with flying colors
and you just got a call to schedule a second interview. What happens
next? How can you use a second interview as a means to get a job
offer? It's important to be aware that the company is seriously
interested in you, or they wouldn't have called. You are definitely in
contention for the job! Here are suggestions on how to use your second
job interview to help secure an offer.

7.Phone Interview Tips
Employers use telephone interviews as a way of identifying and
recruiting candidates for employment. Phone interviews are often used
to screen candidates in order to narrow the pool of applicants who
will be invited for in-person interviews. They are also used as way to
minimize the expenses involved in interviewing out-of-town candidates.

8.Video Job Interviews
Video interviews are becoming more commonplace in the workplace.
As hiring becomes more global, both for employers and candidates,
video interviewing is a way to expedite the interview process. Hiring
managers and recruiters can conduct first round interviews more
quickly, save on transportation costs, and get the interview process
started much faster using video conferencing than they can scheduling
in-person interviews.
